Found this via Prospect. Thank you for writing it. The opening framing with "A report of yet another man treating women as expendable commodities is as surprising as it is rare." is so powerful. I hate it so much!

Thank you so much for reading and subscribing. I feel utter despair at the ubiquity of this violence

Thanks for highlighting these appalling cases, Alona. Tragically, plus ça change, plus c'est la même chose.

I've been thinking a lot about the upcoming US election, where we have the highly qualified, incredibly smart, experienced and eloquent Kamala Harris running against a convicted felon who tried to overthrow the US government, whose list of sexual abuse allegations has its own Wikipedia page, who constantly incites racial hatred and whose speeches are a garbled word salad and yet...the polls show the two running neck-and-neck.

WHAT'S WITH THAT?

Thanks so much Josie. It is tragic. And I didn’t even mention Trump, who represents so perfectly this acceptance of violence against women as totally normal, totally tolerable
